It's time for a Back to University Reset.
My top tips for back to uni as a uni student who has not only graduated, but is also about to embark upon law school.
Itβs that time of year again, and no Iβm not talking about Autumn or Christmas, Iβm talking about Back to University season and itβs upon us fast! Here are some of my top tips for going back to uni and how to essentially romanticise your degree.
If your degree requires a lot of reading, books can seem not only daunting but, rather exhausting too. However, a good step towards romanticizing your degree is to romanticise what youβre reading. To help tackle the endless pile of required reading you may have try to imagine yourself an old-fashioned student surrounded by dusty tomes of academic literature, as opposed to someone who is sick to death of long sentences that they can barely understand. Additionally, pencil notes and post-it noted will become your best friend! You could write notes in the margin that you may wish to refer to later on in your studies or start using post-its to brighten up the pages.
Making your desk space look cute is essential to helping you set the mood to get back into your studies. Try burning scented candles or use a desk lamp and fairy lights for cosy lighting, wrap yourself in a blanket and make yourself a cup of something warm. Stack your textbooks aesthetically on your desk and settle down to your readings or exercises. You can also try finding a study playlist that fits your mood and gives your room an air of concentration. Itβs much easier to romanticise your degree if your desk setup goes some way towards looking Instagram-able.
Everyone has seen those people on social media who go viral for their amazingly artistic notes. Not all of us are quite that creative, but writing your notes out in a way that looks beautiful can help you feel like your degree is beautiful too. If youβre a STEM student, try assigning different coloured pens to different equations or formulae. If your degree requires more note taking then try doing a fancy title page or highlighting key words to make your notes stand out more. Donβt worry if you prefer typing up your notes; get yourself a bullet journal or planner and use that to structure your week in a creative and colourful way.
Overall, just remember to enjoy your time at university and not only focus on the academics! Make some new friends, join a society or go and explore coffee shops in your local uni town.
